Why swim in plastic when you can swim in wool?
Hello and welcome to Swimm.
The original contemporary wool swimwear brand established in 2018.
Swimm is an independently owned boutique sustainable swimwear brand from Australia. The fabric is made from Australian merino wool and production, packaging and shipping is all based in Melbourne.
The super fine, high quality wool is sourced from a RWS (Responsible Wool Standards) accredited farm with non-mulesed sheep ensuring the highest standards of animal welfare and environmental responsibility and is knitted by an Ethical Clothing Australia accredited bespoke textile mill.
The fabric is free of PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) forever chemicals. The dye in the fabric is made using low toxic and low allergen dye which is accredited with OEKO-TEX.
All of the packaging is 100% reusable, recyclable, biodegradable and compostable.
Swimm proudly has the highest quality and most comfortable swimwear with a 96% wool to 4% elastane ratio woven in a 4 way stretch for full movement in the water.
Natural Performance Fibre
Merino wool is a renewable, biodegradable material that regulates temperature, manages moisture, and resists odour—making it effective for swimwear.
Performance in Water
Temperature Regulation: Merino wool fibres regulate body temperature in warm and cool water. The fibre's crimp structure traps air for insulation when wet, while remaining breathable in warm conditions.
Quick-Drying & Moisture Management: Merino absorbs up to 30% of its weight in moisture while feeling dry to the touch. It wicks moisture away from skin and dries faster than cotton. The swimwear is fully lined with the same wool fabric for comfort and performance.
Odour Resistance: Merino wool contains lanolin and has a fibre structure that prevents bacteria growth—the cause of odour in swimwear. Your swimwear stays fresher longer, even after multiple wears.
Chlorine & Saltwater Resilient: Premium merino wool swimwear withstands pool chlorine, ocean salt, and spa chemicals while maintaining shape, softness, and performance.
UV Protection: Merino provides UPF 20+ sun protection.
Soft & Non-Irritating: Superfine merino fibres are soft and gentle on skin. Hypoallergenic and suitable for sensitive skin.
Sauna & Spa Ready: Merino's natural moisture-wicking and temperature regulation make it ideal for saunas and steam rooms. The fibre stays comfortable against skin in high heat and humidity, while its odour resistance means it stays fresh even after extended sauna sessions.
Why Avoid Synthetic Swimwear
Microplastic Pollution: Synthetic fabrics like polyester, nylon, and spandex shed thousands of microplastic fibres every time they're washed or worn in water. These microplastics pollute oceans, enter the food chain, and persist for hundreds of years.
Petroleum-Based & Non-Biodegradable: Synthetic fabrics are derived from fossil fuels and sit in landfill for centuries. Merino wool is a natural fibre that biodegrades completely and returns nutrients to soil.
Chemical Treatments: Synthetic swimwear is often treated with antimicrobial chemicals and finishes to combat odour and bacteria build-up. These can irritate skin and wash out over time.
Less Breathable: Synthetics trap heat and moisture against skin, creating a clammy feeling—especially problematic in swimwear worn for extended periods.
Sustainable & Renewable
Merino wool is a renewable resource that grows back each year. Choosing merino wool swimwear means a product that performs better, lasts longer, and has less environmental impact.
Durability
With proper care, merino wool swimwear maintains shape, elasticity, and performance season after season. The fibre's natural resilience means less pilling, fading, and degradation compared to synthetics.
Happy swimming
